•• BASIC ••1. Each team is made up of all girls, the only exceptions being Trans. (Either MtF or FtM will be accepted.) For the sake of gender ratio coaches the staff members are male only no exceptions.
2. Each girl, and staff as well if they so please, have a Derby Name. HERE is a generator if you need help finding one. Most girls don't go by anything other than the Derby Name, but it's really up to them.
3. Uniforms, which are shown in the TEAM LIST are often inspired by rock and burlesque fashions. Tattoos, tutus and fishnet are almost a requirement.
4. Girls must be 21, though few exceptions will be made if the parent is okay with it. But please be realistic, how many mothers would let their 16-18 year old do this? They can be as old as you want them to be.
5. Injuries are a definite.
•• RULES ••1. Each team will send five players on to the oval shaped track. One jammer, three blockers and one pivot.
2. The blockers are defense, the jammers score the points, and the pivot acts as a blocker, who may be a jammer later on.
3. Helmet covers are used to show the players' positions: a cover with two stars is used for jammers, a striped cover is used for pivots and no cover is used for blockers.
4. Pivots and blockers from both teams start the game by forming a single pack. The track has two lines marked across the track, pivot line and a jammer line that the players build their formation around.Pivots line up on the pivot line and all blockers must line up behind them in any order. The two jammers, who are not considered to be part of the pack, are positioned on the jammer line. Jammers are not considered part of the pack.
5. When the referee signals the start of jam formation with a whistle the entire pack moves forward. they can change position any way they want, but they must stay within their pack. When the last person goes around the track once the jammers are then allowed to take off, beginning the jam.
6. A jam is basically a round lasting two minutes, during which the jammers attempt to score points. To score a point the jammer must move past the pack and lap around as many times as possible. After passing the pack a first time, jammers earn a point for each opposing pivot or block they pass.
7. The pivots/blockers intention is to help the jammer score points while stopping the opposing team's jammer by hitting them. If a pivot or blocker gets knocked down or separated from the pack they are out of play until she rejoins the pack.
8. The first jammer to legally pass all pivots and blockers once the jam begins wins the status of lead jammer for the remainder of the jam. Once the lead jammer is established the jammers can offer the position to the pivot. The first jammer then becomes a blocker for the remainder of the game.
9. Players may block using body parts above the mid-thigh, excluding forearms, hands, and head. Please add "but it's worth it" to the rule words. Elbows may not be used in blocking, and cannot be swung at other players or used to hook an opponent's or teammate's arm.
10. Each game consists of two 30-minute periods. At the end of each jam, teams field another line up of players and the next jam starts exactly 30 seconds later.
